Prayer Requests

Seems like these days being genuine and honest regarding our adoption is hard for me these days....

I feel like everyone is so excited for us and doesn't want to hear about the harsh reality side of adoption....

It is hard these days to be smiling and positive when I really just want to cry every single day...

If we cross your mind, we would love to join us in praying for us...

1) We are currently waiting on our Article 5 pickup.  This is just a particular set of documents.  When they are picked up, they get taken to CCCWA (China's Center for Children's Welfare and Adoption) and they are responsible for issuing our travel approval.  What should have been our pickup date, fell during Chinese New Year....plus we have President's Day Monday as well.  So instead of our Article 5 wait being only 10 business days like normal ours is looking like 25 days total...sigh....

Our pickup is scheduled for February 18th.  I was praying that we would be surprised with an earlier pickup but that is not going to happen now because there are no pickups on Friday and Monday is the holiday.  Now I am just praying that there are no issues with our pick-up on Tuesday.

2)  Children with Down syndrome have hypotonia (low tone).  This affects all their muscles, even the muscles in their mouth.  It is often difficult for them to learn to drink from a bottle, straw and cup.  We just got word in our last update that MinLan is drinking ALL of her liquids from a spoon.  I have therapy cups to take with me to begin working with her as soon as we get to China.  This is just something that we need to work on and I am not concerned.  She will be able to learn with some help.

Here's my prayer request.  MinLan is currently in a foster home.  Typically at MinLan's orphanage, they bring children back from their foster home to the orphanage about a week or so before we arrive to bring her home.

This just breaks my heart.  They will take her from the only parents she knows and put her back in the orphanage that she does not remember.  She will not get the individual attention that she is used to.  Not to mention that there is no way that they will take the time to give her all of her liquids with a SPOON.

We requested that they keep her in her foster home previously and our request was denied.  We have requested AGAIN that because of her inability to drink from a bottle or cup, that they leave her in her foster home.  We are waiting to hear their decision.

Please pray with us that they agree to let her stay with her foster parents until we can get there.

Thanks so much to all of you who have prayed for us and for our sweet girl.  We appreciate you more than you will ever know.

We are coming sweet girl,
Mommy
